No threat to JHS after social media rumors prove to be false

Jacksonville Police made sure everyone at Jacksonville High School made it to school safely this morning.

JPD patrolled Jacksonville High School’s campus to in regards to various rumors made on social media.

According to Jacksonville Superintendent Steve Ptacek, this morning was a lose-lose situation, because if they increased security it would seem like something was happening but if they didn’t ask JPD for help, it would appear that the school district wasn’t taking these rumors seriously.

Jacksonville Police and the school district assessed the situation and deemed that there’s wasn’t a threat to the school.

Superintendent Ptacek wants to reassure everyone that there wasn’t an issue and there’s no need to panic over any of the rumors on social media.
