A Meredosia man lost his life after failing to wear a seat belt in a single vehicle crash on the Winchester-Woodson Blacktop yesterday. 20 year old Isiah Nunes of Meredosia was traveling westbound on the Winchester-Woodson blacktop, ¼ mile east of Blackburn Road just outside of Winchester at approximately 4:55 yesterday afternoon in a 2003 Mitsubishi SUV. Nunes lost control of the vehicle and slid off the right side of the roadway striking the ditch and overturning several times, according to Illinois State Police District 20 reports. Piper of Winchester, was wearing a seat belt and was transported to Passavant Area Hospital with serious injuries. Assisting on the scene were the Scott County Sheriff’s Department, Winchester Police Department, Winchester Fire Department, and Winchester EMS.
