In a year that has been highlighted by the state not putting a budget together, Jacksonville aldermen will begin the local budget process tonight.

The Finance Committee will kick off discussion of the 2016 budget process during tonight’s City Council meeting. Water-sewer rates and the utilities budget for 2016 are also on the agenda.     The city clerk’s report features a discussion on the 2016 tax levy.

Aldermen could finalize an ordinance tonight for a contract agreement between the city and the Village of South Jacksonville for emergency water and wastewater services.

Things get underway with the workshop session at 6:30 p.m. in the Jacksonville Municipal Building.
