Youth soccer teams are invited to cheer on Jacksonville High School’s boys soccer team as they prepare for their postseason push.

Athletic Director Joey Dion says the team’s current success is generating excitement around the community.

“It’s Senior Night, we’re having quite a bit of success with the program and there’s a lot of excitement surrounding the program. So we’re just trying to embrace the future of the program so that it continues to grow, that they see the good things that are happening at the high school level and want to continue to be a part of the program,” Dion says.

Young soccer players who participate in the Jacksonville Soccer Association (JSA), Jacksonville Soccer Club (JSC) or Jacksonville Futbol Club (JFC) are encouraged to wear their team’s jerseys for free admittance to tonight’s contest.

The Crimsons enter tonight’s match with an overall record of 10-4 and tied with their opponent Glenwood for second in the CS8 with 5-1 conference record.

With postseason right around the corner, JHS welcomes a pair of regionals to Alumni Field. The Crimsons are the top seed in the Class 3A regional and will take on Bethalto Civic Memorial at Alumni Field on Tuesday October 18th at 4:30.

On the other side of the regional bracket are Highland and Jerseyville. The winner of the regional advances to the Waterloo Sectional.

Tonight’s varsity game starts at around 6:45 at Alumni Field.
