Scott County is joining a growing list of counties suing the State of Illinois because of the seven-month-long budget impasse.
Scott County State’s Attorney Michael Hill says the county is suing for reimbursement of salaries for the state’s attorney, public defender and public assessor’s offices.
Hill estimates the total being sued for is about $90,000. He says reimbursements stopped when the budget impasse began last July. The suit was filed in Scott County Court.
