A minivan crashed into a building in downtown Jacksonville Friday, sending one person to the hospital.

The vehicle went into the Girls In White Satin store on East State Street shortly after noon.

According to police, the van, driven by 35-year-old Ngimbi Dianzemza of the 800 block of Illinois was traveling eastbound on State Street.

A Jimmy John’s delivery vehicle being driven by 26-year-old Jasmine Royer of the 1600 block of Chilton was reportedly traveling southbound on North East and stopped at the intersection at State Street, but did not see the van, and proceeded through, striking the van.

Jacksonville Police Lieutenant Sean Walker says the impact caused the van to spin out of control and crash into the building.

Walker says the van crashed into the bridal registry section of the business. One of the owners, 50-year-old Terryl Boulanger of Jacksonville, was taken in a stretcher to Passavant Area Hospital. A hospital spokesperson says Boulanger has been treated and released.

Dianzemza and three other occupants of the minivan, as well as Royer, were not injured. Walker says at least one citation is pending.

Emergency officials were able to drive the minivan out of the storefront.

A press release from the Jacksonville Convention and Visitors’ Bureau indicates Girls in White Satin will be closed until further notice.
