An Illinois College senior has been awarded a federal Fulbright Scholarship to teach in South America.
Senior Gabrielle Esparza of Geneseo will teach English in Argentina. Esparza is a history and Spanish major, and received the English Teaching Assistant Fulbright to work at a teacher-training college.
According to a press release, Esparza will also engage in a research project focusing on Argentina’s “Dirty War”, a project she began during a previous study abroad period.
Esparza is scheduled to leave for Argentina in March 2017 and spend nine months there on the scholarship.
