Jacksonville State Representative C.D. Davidsmeyer is offering his thoughts on the possibility of a “stopgap” budget bill.
Republican Senate Leader Christine Radogno told a Chicago radio station this weekend she believes lawmakers will reach an agreement on a short-term plan before the end of this month, just ahead of the new fiscal year.
Davidsmeyer reiterates that something needs to be done.
“I know six months isn’t even enough time to really make much of a plan, but at least it’s something that people can plan for the next six months,” says Davidsmeyer.
“There are some concerns that I have in there with regards to specifically, higher ed MAP grants were not included, and I think it’s important that MAP grants be included. And I’m still looking to see what types of funding there are for organizations like JACIL and other groups that provide services for people locally in our district,” he adds.
The regular spring session ended last week. Illinois has been without a budget for almost a full year.
