The identity of the Waverly woman killed Tuesday night has yet to be released, further details regarding the alleged homicide have come to light.
While no name has been released to this point, according to authorities, the victim was a 29-year old woman from Waverly.
According to Morgan County Sheriff Randy Duvendack, the 29-year old female was struck, stabbed and suffered blunt force trauma, and was subsequently pronounced dead at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield Tuesday night.
As previously reported, 33-year old Nathan Henson, of the 300 block of Elm Street in Waverly, was booked at the Morgan County jail early yesterday morning on a charge of murder. And according to Duvendack, police located the victim at Henson’s residence in the 300 block of Elm.
While Henson remains in custody at the Morgan County jail, 27-year old William Sanders, who was also booked at the county jail yesterday morning for aggravated battery has been released on bond.
Duvendack confirmed that Sanders, who resides on East State Street in Waverly, pursued Henson after arriving at his East Elm residence. Sanders and Henson eventually ended up in a yard on East Tanner Street in Waverly, where Sanders apprehended Henson and proceeded to strike him.
Along with Morgan County Deputies, officers from the Waverly Police Department, as well as Illinois State Police assisted on the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
