Another continuation in the case of an 18-year-old Jacksonville woman charged with attempted murder for allegedly abandoning her newborn baby in a dumpster in 2014.

Morgan County Assistant State’s Attorney Chad Turner says a Thursday court appearance for the teen was vacated by Associate Judge Jeffery Tobin because a mental evaluation requested by the defense is still pending.

The parties were scheduled to hold a “402 conference”, the purpose of which is to determine what kind of sentence a judge might hand down for an open plea.

Turner says the mental exam is scheduled for July 15th, the results of which may take up to two weeks to be reported. He says the 402 conference and a simultaneous pretrial have been set for August 11th.
