UPDATE: Power was restored by 9:15 this morning.

Our area is dealing with some power outages this morning after thunderstorms rumbled through.

Ameren Illinois spokesman Bryan Bretsch says crews were dispatched at around 7:15 when storms caused a large tree to come down on a power line in the Modesto area. Bretsch says that interrupted service to about 5,300 customers in Waverly, New Berlin, Modesto, Palmyra, Franklin and Auburn.

Bretsch says crews were able to switch power sources to knock the customer outage total to about 1,400 by 8:45 a.m.

There’s no estimated restoration time yet for those customers.

You can report an outage at 1-800-755-5000.

Thunderstorms dumped about a quarter-inch of rain at the WLDS-WEAI recording station earlier this morning.
