A Baylis man has been arrested by Pike County authorities after a month-long investigation into a report of child pornography.
Yesterday at 10:30AM, law enforcement officials from the Pike County Sheriff’s Department, Illinois State Police, and the Illinois Attorney General’s Crime’s Against Children Task Force executed a court-authorized search warrant in the 200 block of South Main Street in Baylis.
Subsequent to the execution of said search warrant, 40-year old Christopher A. Coleman of Baylis was arrested on 10 counts of child pornography possession.
Coleman is accused of possessing videos, via an electronic device, of children under the age of thirteen engaged in various sexual acts.
The criminal investigation began in April when information was received regarding the possession of child pornography. The investigation was forwarded to the Pike County Sheriff’s Department for further investigation.
Chief Deputy Zack Orr, who led the criminal investigation, said numerous search warrants were obtained and executed which helped law enforcement successfully identify, locate, and arrest Coleman.
Coleman is currently lodged in the Pike County Jail awaiting a pretrial detention hearing on Thursday.
