Morgan County State’s Attorney Bobby Bonjean has filed a motion to appoint a special prosecutor for the case of Robert Gill.

In a press release, Bonjean stated the motion was filed “due to a potential conflict of interest, or alternatively, the creation of the appearance of an impropriety.”

Bonjean says his father, an attorney in private practice, was representing the victim at the time the alleged offense occurred.

An order has been entered appointing the office of the State’s Attorney’s Appellate Prosecutor to handle the prosecution and directing. The Morgan County State’s Attorney’s Office will deliver all documents, reports and other information related to the case to the Special Prosecutor.
