Water Main Struck Second Time in South Jacksonville

UPDATED Aug, 21, 2023

Attention South Jacksonville Residents, a water main has been hit by the drilling team on the South end of town. The Village is aware of it and is in the process of getting it fixed. At this time, there is no estimated time of when the water will be turned back on. Due to the break some residents may have experienced low water pressure, that should be resolved soon.

Residents will be notified via the Village’s Code Red system, social media and this station when the main has been fixed and if and when a boil order is issued.
Any Questions please call Village Hall at 217-245-4803.

City of Jacksonville Flushing Hydrants

The Jacksonville Water Department along with the Jacksonville Fire Department
will begin flushing fire hydrants on July 10, 2023. The process starts each year
and continues until each hydrant has been flushed. The purpose is to ensure the
hydrants are in good working order.
Occasionally, residents may experience slight water discoloration and some loss of
pressure when the fire hydrants are being flushed in their area. During the period
of discoloration we suggest not to do light colored laundry. The water quality is
not affected by the process and the pressure is restored once the flushing is
complete. If discoloration is experienced, it should dissipate within a few hours.
Please call 479-4660 if you have any questions.
