The Village of Manchester will be flushing hydrants the week of July 19th. A slight discoloration may occur however the water is safe for drinking and cooking as normal.
Morgan County Health Department will suspend COVID Testing services effective June 5, 2021. Individuals who are sick are encouraged to stay home and contact their primary care provider or call the SIU School of Medicine’s COVID Hotline at 217/545-5100.
Morgan County VFW Memorial Day service is Monday, at 11 AM at the Korean War Memorial in Jacksonville Community Park.
On Memorial Day, from 8 AM – 5 PM, veterans and active military are invited to stop by and receive a Free 3’x5′ American flag, while supply lasts, at Central Illinois Dish Pro, 1632 Mound Rd in Jacksonville. No purchase is necessary.

Beardstown‘s Memorial Day service will be held in Art Zeeck Park in the downtown square at 11 AM
A Memorial Day Service will be held on Monday, May 31st at 10 AM at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia, Illinois. Attendees are asked to bring a lawn chair. In the event of rain, the service will be at New Life Church.
Greene County will hosts a number of Memorial Day services.
Services will be held at the Eldred American Legion at 9 AM.
Services in Carrollton will be at 10 AM on the courthouse lawn on the square.
Memorial Services will be held a 10 AM at Oak Wood Cemetery in Greenfield.
The White Hall VFW will host services at the VFW Cemetery at 10:30 AM and White Hall Cemetery at 11 AM.
Roodhouse American Legion services are at 11:30 AM at Fernwood Cemetery.

The Morgan County Historical Society has announced that the 2021 Prairieland Chautauqua, usually held over the Labor Day weekend, has been cancelled.
A house fire has been reported in the 200 block of East College Avenue in Jacksonville. Motorists are asked to avoid the area.

Early voting in Morgan County for the April consolidated election will be held in the County Clerk’s office in the Morgan County Court House during business hours, Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. The office will be open this Saturday for early voting only from 9:00 am to noon.
County Clerk Jill Waggener says this is the only Saturday in March early voting will be held. She says an April Saturday date will be announced later this month.
The Jacksonville Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals have cancelled their scheduled meeting for March 3 due to lack of business. The next scheduled meetings are planned for April 7th.
School Cancellations and Announcements for Friday, Feb. 19
Jacksonville School District 117 has made the following announcement:
• All non-K-12 buildings will be closed the remainder of this week.
This includes the central office, Early Years, Crossroads Learning
Center (including the TAP program), and the Bowl.
• K-12 buildings will operate with normal hours. Inside temperatures will be lower by 1-2 degrees. Please send your student in layers. If a building becomes too cold, we will respond and increase the heat. This is especially the case with our elementary students. JMS and JHS students are older, more adaptable, and they leave earlier.
• All sporting events scheduled for the Bowl will move to JMS. This
includes tonight’s JHS girls’ basketball game, Friday night’s JHS boys’
basketball game, and all JMS events. All restrictions that have been
enacted due to COVID will remain.
• Community walking program at the Bowl will not be offered for the remainder of this week. This is a program offered through Passavant that utilizes the Bowl.
