Cass County Health Department officials confirmed a reporting error by the Illinois Department of Public Health. IDPH’s website is reporting that Cass County currently has 66 positive cases of COVID-19. In email communication last night with WLDS News, CCHD says that it’s an error by the state’s tracking system.

Andrew English, CCHD Communication Director, says that the system is adding in out-of-state cases by mistake: “There is a lab in Northern Illinois that has been putting some out of state positive results into the state tracking system (known as INEDSS) as Cass County residents. This has been done in error. IDPH is aware of this issue and is working on correcting it. The IDPH map is automatically pulling numbers from INEDSS- which is why the map is showing the incorrect numbers. We are sorry for the confusion!”

Only one new case was reported by CCHD yesterday, a female in her 30s who is isolated and recovering at home. Cass County’s true positive case count stands at 61, with a total of 30 cases being reported as recovered according to CDC guidelines.

Morgan County Health officials confirmed one additional positive case of COVID-19 yesterday. The 34th case is a female in her 20s who is isolated and recovering at home.

IDPH announced 3,239 new positive cases of COVID-19 including 138 additional deaths in the last 24 hours. Labs reported 22,678 specimens were tested over the last 24 hours. The statewide 7-day positivity rate is steady at 17%.
