District 117 to introduce new board member at tonight’s meeting

Jacksonville School District 117 will welcome its newest board members Jan Ryan prior to tonight’s board meeting.

Ryan, who was selected to fill the vacant seat of Cheryl Ballard earlier this month, will take her oath of office at the Committee of the Whole meeting starting at 6 p.m. Also at the Committee of the Whole meeting, there will be a discussion of the boundary for Franklin School.

The regularly scheduled board meeting will then kick off at around 6:45. Board members will review enrollment reports from the current year compared to 2015’s numbers.

Other reports include an update on Vision 117 projects, such a monthly modeling and expansion report for Jacksonville Middle School and remodeling report for Lincoln Elementary.

The board will also discuss a tentatively proposed tax levy for 2016 from Jamie Hadjan and review state report cards for every school in the district pertaining to the 2015-16 school year.

The action will take place at Jacksonville High School.
