A Jacksonville man police say is the father of a child found abandoned as a newborn in 2014 in a dumpster has reached a plea deal after being arrested on felony charges.

Twenty-nine-year-old Quincy Stone of the 500 block of North Clay pleaded guilty in Morgan County Court on February 16th to a misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Stone was originally charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse, but that was dropped as part of the plea deal. Police said he had sex with a then-16-year-old girl, and the conception period was said to be December 2013. Police said Stone was arrested based on DNA test results.

The teen mother was arrested shortly after baby was found in a dumpster on West Lafayette Avenue in August 2014 incident and charged with attempted murder.

Stone was sentenced earlier this month to 116 days in jail, given credit for 58 days served, given two years of probation, and fined $1,025.

The next court appearance for the child’s mother is Thursday.
