A familiar face in Pike County Courtrooms has been named the county’s new top attorney.
Current State’s Attorney Zachary Boren was named to a vacancy in the Eighth Judicial Circuit last month and is expected to assume the bench on Friday. The Pike Press reports that Boren’s replacement in the Pike County State’s Attorney’s Office was named at the Pike County Board meeting on Monday.
Pike County Board President Andy Borrowman named current Pike County Public Defender Walker Filbert as Boren’s replacement. Filbert ran unsuccessfully to unseat Boren in the 2020 election for the position.
Filbert has been in private law practice since 1992 and has been based in Pittsfield for the last 25 years. Filbert also served on the Pike County Board from 2010 to 2012.
Filbert will be sworn in on Friday at the Pike County Courthouse.
