Franklin Man Injured, Airlifted After Single-Vehicle Rollover Near Alexander Yesterday

Multiple agencies responded to rural Alexander yesterday morning for a one-vehicle rollover crash.

The initial calls came in from the 1400 block of the Franklin-Alexander Road just after 9AM yesterday. According to the caller, a mid-sized SUV had rolled over into the ditch and one person was pinned under the vehicle.

The first units arrived at just after 9:15 yesterday morning requesting an AirEvac Helicopter as well as a towing crane to lift the vehicle.

The Alexander Fire Department, South Jacksonville Fire Department, Jacksonville Fire & Rescue, Bill’s Towing, LifeStar Ambulance, and the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department all responded. The roadway was temporarily closed while emergency personnel extricated the driver from underneath the vehicle and cleaned up the scene. The Journal Courier reports that the driver was alert before being airlifted from the scene.

The driver, 22-year old Casey L. Shafer of Franklin was airlifted to HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield with severe injuries. No information has been released on Shafer’s condition this morning.

No further information about the incident has been released, as authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
