Greene County Days Kicks Off Friday

The annual celebration of all things Greene County is coming up this weekend.

Greene County Days kicks off with a host of events on Friday.

In Carrollton, more than 40 vendors will be around the courthouse lawn. There will also be a host of food vendors. Food and various wares will be on sale all three days. Members of the Greene County Historical and Genealogical Society will be offering tours of the Lee-Baker-Hodges House on the southwest end of the Carrollton square from 9AM to 3PM on both Friday and Saturday. Food will also be available at the house until its gone. On Saturday, local author D. F. Kennedy will be at the Carrollton Public Library to autograph copies of her three books.

In White Hall, the Lions Club will have bingo in Whiteside Park on Friday night from 5-7PM. There will be live music from Terry Plackett running from 4-8PM. Festivities will return to Whiteside Park on Saturday morning, beginning with a White Hall Pottery presentation by local expert Todd Pinkerton Riegel starting at 10:30AM. There will be a host of games, prizes, live music, and a cake walk starting at 1 o’clock and running until 8PM. The White Hall Masonic Lodge will be offering Child ID screenings and the Shriners will also be offering Shriners hospital screenings through the day.

A fundraiser for the Belltown Cemetery will also be held from 8AM-4PM Saturday featuring Oasis pork fritter sales.

The White Hall Drag-o-way annual Reunion and car show will take place at Lions Park on Saturday starting at 9AM.

In Roodhouse, events will take place in Roodhouse Park on the square on all three days. The band Pan-Demic will play Friday from 4-8PM. Saturday morning is the Greene County Days parade starting at 9AM.

The Roodhouse Police Department will also be cooking burgoo. Kettle Service will be at 7AM on Saturday. Proceeds from the burgoo will go towards the Roodhouse PD’s Youth funds for programming.

Midwest Avenue plays Saturday after the parade from 11:30-3:30. At 6PM, the Miss Greene County Days Pageant will be held with Queen, Jr. Miss, and Princess categories. A Community Church Service will be held Sunday morning on the square, hosted by the Roodhouse First Baptist Church at 10:30. All are welcome to attend.

In Greenfield, Rives Lake will be the center of the weekend celebration. BBQ By the Lake will be the big event on Saturday starting at 11AM. That will be followed by a bags tournament at 1. Live entertainment begins at 3 with the Elderly Brothers, running til 6. They will be followed by Tanglefoot from 8PM to midnight.

Other locations of interest include the Greene Fields Farms pumpkin patch opening starting at 10am Friday and running until 5. They will also be open 10-5 on Saturday and 1-5 on Sunday.

The Black Homestead Farm in rural Carrollton will also be hosting tours on Saturday from 10AM to 3PM. The tours are free to attend.
