A Greene County teen remains in the hospital after a single-vehicle crash outside of Carrollton in the early morning hours from Saturday.
Carrollton Police, Greene County Sheriff’s Deputies, Illinois State Police District 18 troopers, and local EMS were called to Illinois Route 108 near southeast 300th Avenue, about 1 mile east of Carrollton, at approximately 2:20 in the morning Saturday for a single-vehicle rollover accident.
According to State Police reports, 18 year old Easton Smith of Carrollton was traveling east on Illinois Route 108 in a 2009 Black Ford Mustang and failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the right side of the road. The Mustang then struck an embankment and rolled several times. Smith was flown to a regional hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he remains this morning according to social media sources.
Smith has been cited for driving under the influence, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, illegal transportation of alcohol, and illegal possession of alcohol by a minor.
