Yesterday the Illinois Department of Insurance released the health insurance rates and analysis for the Illinois Exchange 2020 Plan Year. The Illinois on-Exchange has one new carrier this year, bringing its total to 5. According to a press release yesterday from the department, premium rates are down and rating areas remain unchanged from the previous fiscal year. Insurance Director Robert Muriel describes how many options residents will have to choose from.
Open enrollment into one of 142 available insurance plans under Get Covered Illinois begins on Friday and will run through December 15th. Muriel says that anyone needing coverage can visit Get Covered dot Illinois dot Gov and can click on the “Shop/Enroll” option: “There you can search for the plans that are available. There’s another tool on the Get Covered Illinois site that consumers can use to find someone in their area to help them through the process. Just click the button ‘Make An Appointment’ and you’ll be contacted by a certified application counselor.”
More than 312,000 Illinois residents enrolled in the Affordable Care Act plans during open enrollment last year. For an analysis for the 2020 exchange options visit insurance dot illinois dot gov.
