The Jacksonville Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a special job fair on Thursday at 4 area Healthcare businesses.

The Health and Community Services division of the Jacksonville Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Health and Wellness Walk-In Job Fair Day on Thursday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Jacksonville Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lisa Musch says that instead of setting up a table at an appointed venue, businesses will open their doors to interested applicants: “The Health & Community Services division was talking at one of their meetings about how we could assist our businesses in finding good job applicants because a lot of them have many openings. Many of us had been to different job fairs, and it’s difficult to get away out of the office and take people away for a period of time to man a booth at a job fair. We thought of ways of doing that differently, and we also liked the idea of applicants and interested parties going into a business so that they can really see what the place looks like, meet some of the current employees, and maybe get a feel for what it would be like to work at that particular employer. We decided to try this walk-in approach.”

Musch says that four healthcare businesses along or near West Walnut are opening their doors for the fair to interested applicants: Jacksonville Memorial Hospital, Home Instead, The Pointe, and Jacksonville Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation.

Musch says to show up ready to do on-site interviews, fill out an application, bring in a resume, or discuss what type of opportunities are available at the four locations. She also says that the walk-in option allows a bit of privacy to people who may be seeking a new opportunity.
