A woman was arrested after side-swiping a parked car and then hitting a house with her vehicle last night. Several 9-1-1 calls began rolling into Jacksonville Police dispatch at approximately 9 o’clock last night saying a vehicle was driving recklessly near the intersection of Diamond and Anna Streets, eventually hitting a house. Jacksonville Police eventually were able to stop the vehicle near Anna Street and arrested 39 year old Beth E. Atkins of the 700 block of Jordan Street.

According to police reports, Atkins’ vehicle sideswiped a parked and unoccupied vehicle in the 600 block of South Diamond. Atkins then continued northbound on South Diamond and eventually exited the roadway to the right and struck a street sign. Witnesses then reported to police that Atkins made an improper right turn on South Diamond onto Anna and struck a house located at 542 South Diamond causing damage. Atkins then backed into a police squad car with its light activated, which then caused the vehicle to become inoperable.

Atkins refused EMS treatment at the scene. She was cited for improper lane usage, improper turn, improper backing, driving with a suspended or revoked license, driving under the influence of alcohol, and illegal transportation of alcohol. She remains lodged at the Morgan County Jail.
