Jacksonville Woman Named Memorial’s Colleague of the Year

A Jacksonville woman has been named Memorial Medical Center’s colleague of the year for 2019.

Tami Werries, a physical therapy assistant and insurance coordinator at Memorial Outpatient Rehab, part of Memorial Medical Center, was named the nonprofit hospital’s colleague of the year last Thursday.

Werries has worked at Memorial Medical Center for 25 years, starting in April 1994.and currently assists orthopedic physical therapists, serves as an insurance coordinator, provides treatment for specialized wound care and treats patients with chronic pain through aquatic therapy. She also helped establish the Women’s Health Physical Therapy program in her department.

Werries also volunteers her time twice a week as a certified coach for the Rock Steady Boxing group for people with Parkinson’s disease, which meets at Memorial Outpatient Rehab. She completed the training and testing to become a certified coach outside of her working hours.

She and her husband, Gary, enjoy going to live concerts and playing trivia. She has a daughter, two stepsons and seven grandchildren.

The colleague of the year is selected from 11 individuals named colleague of the month from January through November of each year. Werries was February’s colleague of the month.

The colleague of the year is awarded a $1,000 check, an additional week of paid time off, a plaque and a reserved parking space for a year.
