According to a press release, Jacksonville Police officers responded to the report at around midnight last night and discovered evidence of shots having been fired. Officers reportedly located several impact sites on an apartment building and two vehicles parked at the apartment.

During the course of the investigation, police say 27-year-old Julius Woods was arrested on eight counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm, possession of a weapon by a felon, two counts of criminal damage to property and resisting a peace officer.

Jacksonville Police Lieutenant Sean Walker says police officers had to chase Woods several blocks before apprehending him. He says there was a “targeted individual” in the shooting, and says the weapon was a handgun.

Woods was arrested in July after the Jacksonville Police Department Special Response Team raided his home and the home of another man, 25-year-old Joshua Woods, on South Main Street for manufacture or delivery of controlled substances.

Police say no injuries were reported, and the incident remains under investigation. Anyone with more information is urged to call the JPD at 479-4630 or Crimestoppers at 243-7300.

Woods remains in custody.
