MacMurray College’s Social Work Program has been recognized for its contributions to the local community. On October 22nd, the Social Work Program was awarded the Friend of the Jacksonville Public Library 2019.
The relationship between the two institutions began in 2017 when social work students began to serve patrons at the library with employment or public benefit searches, providing peer support and organizing community-based workshops for the library. Five students from the social work program have been placed at the library since Spring 2018.
Accepting the award on behalf of the social work program during the library’s board meeting were current MacMurray College Senior in Social Work Rickayla Wilson and Assistant Professor in the Social Work Program Reanna Orr.
