Mike Carmody has defeated Chris Johnson in the race for the GOP nomination for Morgan County sheriff 2552 to 2402 with all 40 precincts in. Carmody was able to pull away late with a strong showing on the west side of Jacksonville.

It appears the unofficial turnout in Morgan County will include about 5-thousand voters, near the historic average of 21 percent.

In Scott County, Tom Eddinger will win the republican nomination for sheriff. Eddinger finished with 721 votes. Robert Smith had 502 with all 10 precincts in.

The ballot question for a tax increase in road district 2 was defeated in Scott County 42 to 34.

WLDS-WEAI news has declared CD Davidsmeyer the winner in the race for the 100th district state representative GOP nomination. Davidsmeyer has more than doubled the total for opponent Jonas Petty, and Morgan County remains out. Davidsmeyer is expected to carry Morgan county easily.

Meanwhile, the Greene County ballot question to form a White Hall fire protection district has passed. It was approved 348 to 269. It establishes a tax ceiling of $175-thousand.
