Multiple Sentences in Pike County Court on Tuesday

Pike County Circuit Court had a busy day on Tuesday.

Terrell Bell

A Barry man arrested on two separate occasions last year for failing to register as a sex offender has been sentenced to conditional discharge.

50-year old Terrell W. Bell pleaded guilty to two counts of failure to register as a sex offender back on May 18th.

Bell was arrested by Pike County Sheriff’s Deputies on April 29, 2022 and June 26, 2022 on warrants for failure to comply with the sex offender registry. Bell was convicted of aggravated criminal sexual assault in 1993 in Adams County.

Bell was sentenced on Tuesday to 30 months of conditional discharge and ordered to pay an undisclosed county fine. Bell was one of more than a half dozen individuals arrested last summer by the Pike County Sheriff’s Department on violations of the sex offender registry.

A Griggsville man arrested on drugs and firearms charges last Fall has been sentenced to probation.

Travis Brown

40-year old Travis R. Brown pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine less than 5 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia back on May 16th in Pike County circuit Court.

The Pike County Sheriff’s Department arrested Brown after a court-authorized search warrant was executed on September 26, 2022 at a residence in the 400 block of North Stanford Street in Griggsville. Brown was subsequently arraigned on the drug charges as well as possession of a firearm without a FOID card. The weapons charge was dropped per the plea.

Brown was sentenced on Tuesday to 2 years of probation, 30 hours of community service, and ordered to pay an undisclosed fine. He was given credit for 2 days served in the Pike County Jail.

A Cass County woman was sentenced to probation on drug charges in Pike County Circuit Court on Tuesday.

32-year old Kayla D. Carlin of Beardstown pleaded guilty to a single count of possession of methamphetamine less than 5 grams stemming from a February 28, 2022 arrest. Carlin failed to appear on the charges multiple times over the last year.

On Tuesday, per an open plea agreement, Carlin was sentenced to 2 years of probation and ordered to pay a county fine plus fees and court costs. She was given credit for 2 days served in the Pike County Jail.

A Griggsville woman arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon is heading to prison for battery of a peace officer.

52-year old Angela S. Lewis was arrested by Pike County Sheriff’s Deputies on February 3, 2023 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a knife with intent to injure an individual – both class A misdemeanors. Details surrounding the event were never released by police and are not available in online court records.

Lewis was originally sentenced to 2 years probation on the aggravated assault charge in April.

The probation was revoked on Tuesday after Lewis pleaded guilty to a single count of aggravated battery of a peace officer. Lewis charged with two counts of the offense in an undisclosed incident from May 16th.

Lewis was sentenced on Tuesday to 3 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, up to 1 year of mandatory supervised release, and ordered to pay an undisclosed county fine plus fees and court costs. Lewis was given credit for 114 days served in the Pike County Jail.
