The City of Jacksonville is being hit with a string of vehicle burglaries over the past several days.
According to authorities, as many as seven or eight vehicle burglaries have been reported since the overnight hours of Sunday.
Four burglaries were reported to Jacksonville Police this morning between approximately 6:45 a.m. and 8 a.m., one occurring on Cherry Street, another on Duncan, and two more on Pine Street.
Jacksonville Police Lieutenant Chris Johnson says reports show that each of the burglaries have been occurring in the same general area of town.
Johnson says when strings of burglaries such as these occur, typically they’re being done by the same individual or group of individuals. However, Johnson says the department won’t jump to any conclusions before conducting a thorough investigation.
As for possible solutions, Johnson says the department will utilize specific tactics and any information they might receive from the public.
According to Johnson, he believes the most expensive item taken during these burglaries is a laptop computer, but says most of the other stolen items have been recovered.
Johnson also reminds local citizens to contact the police department if they suspect a crime is occurring.
