NBEA Vows Legal Action Against BoE Over Personnel Discipline

The New Berlin Education Association teacher’s union is vowing to take their grievances to court. NBEA’s Co-President Tonya Delaney released a statement on Friday on the union’s Facebook Page denouncing the New Berlin School District #16 Board of Education’s recent actions to begin the process of dismissal of teacher and coach Joe Kindred as well as a one day suspension for Delaney. The NBEA Vice President Sarah Knepler was also a part of the investigation but was ultimately cleared of any wrongdoing.

The union believes the board and district administration took the action against union representatives as retaliation for an October vote of no confidence in Superintendent Adam Ehrman, who’s final day with the district will be tomorrow.

The union has asked the board to rescind its actions immediately. The Board of Education has yet to release the bill of particulars to the public about Kindred’s alleged student records misconduct and what some have said was hacking into a board member’s social media account. Members of the board of education have still not returned answers to multiple inquiries.
