The doors to Lonzerotti’s Italia Restaurant have been closed for more than four months, but a local family plans to change that.

Frank, Sue, David and John Whitney recently finalized the purchase of Lonzerotti’s and plan to open the restaurant for business on June 10th.

Frank Whitney says Lonzerotti’s will feature the classic menu items the restaurant has been known for, all served at the highest quality.

Improvements to the restaurant included a new kitchen, refurbished equipment, a new entryway and up-to-date plumbing and electricity.

Many of the familiar employees from Lonzerotti’s will be back to work at the restaurant, along with a few new faces.

The restaurant was originally built as the Chicago and Alton Railroad passenger station in 1909.
