Passavant Area Hospital has accepted a $50,000 donation from the hospital’s auxiliary group.

The gift is the Auxiliary’s first payment towards their pledge of $160,000

for Passavant’s new stress echo cardiography system. $30-thousand of the $50,000 came from proceeds of the 2015 Passavant Auxiliary Bazaar, “Gifts Abound.”

Stress echo cardiography, or “stress echo,” determines how well a patient’s heart and blood vessels are working.

The stress echo is beneficial for patients who are at low risk for a cardiac event or have mild coronary artery disease that go to the Emergency Department with chest pain or shortness of breath.

Previously, these patients were transferred to Springfield for the test.

According to a press release, the mission of the Passavant Auxiliary is to advance and promote the welfare of Passavant by purchasing needed items requested by hospital departments, providing scholarship to employees seeking to further their healthcare training, and offering outreach services and programs that support and promote the hospital.
