Authorities in multiple counties are searching along the banks of the Illinois River for a missing Milton man.
Family members of 19-year old Bryar A. DeJaynes say that he was last heard from around 5:30PM on Sunday prior to putting his boat into the Illinois River near Pearl Landing.
DeJaynes never returned to his truck overnight, nor did he show up for work the next day. DeJaynes boat was found abandoned near the area of the Jersey Glades, an area south of Nutwood down river, on Tuesday afternoon abandoned. Some witnesses have said that a boat matching the description of DeJaynes’ boat may have nearly collided with the Kampsville Ferry on Sunday evening, but those reports have not been confirmed. Authorities were attempting to use geothermal camera searches by air on Monday and Tuesday, but had to suspend those searches due to the weather.
Pings from a cellphone owned by DeJaynes were said to have come from a channel near the Pearl Railroad tracks and the Buckhorn Creek area.
A search for DeJaynes is expected to continue today.
