The Pike County Sheriff’s Department reported a preliminary investigation into a roll over accident on State Highway 100 from last Thursday. In the early morning hours of October 24th, a caller alerted the sheriff’s department of a subject lying by the side of the road next to a car bumper on Route 100 just north of Pearl near the Pike and Greene County line. The caller indicated that they did not see the car. Upon arrival, emergency responders found the vehicle on the opposite side of the highway.

Police investigation reports say that 35 year old Brandon S. Tate of Nebo was traveling eastbound on County Highway 10 and missed the intersection with Route 100 and did not stop. The 2009 Jeep Cherokee that Tate was driving crossed over the highway and crashed into the hillside off the east side of Route 100. Tate was airlifted from the scene to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.

Tate has been cited for Disobeying a Traffic Sign and Driving with a Revoked License. Further charges are pending the outcome of the final report of the investigation. Assisting at the scene was the Illinois State Police, the Spring Creek Fire Department, the Pleasant Hill Fire Department and the Pike County EMS.
