Region Adds 10 More COVID-Linked Deaths, Several New Cases From Over the Weekend

The region added 10 deaths and over 200 new positive cases of COVID-19 over the weekend and yesterday.

The Morgan County Health Department reported 110 new positive cases from yesterday and over the weekend. This brings the total of positive COVID-19 cases to 1,703 with 382 cases currently active, and 18 active cases currently hospitalized. There are currently 583 people quarantined after being in contact with a COVID-positive individual. The Morgan County Health Department also received confirmation of the death of 2 Heritage Health residents, one female on Friday and one male on Saturday, as well as one male in his 70s who died in a hospital yesterday. To date, there have been 35 deaths attributed to Morgan County residents.

The Pike County Health Department confirmed 64 new cases yesterday, including 2 deaths over the weekend – a female in her 80s and a female in her 90s. In all, there have been 839 total cases of COVID-19 in Pike County with 237 cases currently active, with 14 of those active cases hospitalized. To date, there have now been 19 deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Pike County.

The Cass County Health Department reported 5 deaths from over the weekend stemming from COVID-19 – all were from a long-term care facility outbreak. The deaths included 3 females in their 80s, a male in his 90s, and a female in her 90s. CCHD also confirmed 44 new cases of COVID-19 from over the weekend, with 1 attributed to the long-term care facility outbreak. Overall, Cass County has had 754 total cases of the virus, with 213 cases active, with 1 of those currently hospitalized. There have now been 18 people die from COVID-related illness in Cass County.

The Greene County Health Department reported 43 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday. It brings Greene County’s overall total of cases to 657, with 146 cases currently active.

The Brown County Health Department reported 3 new cases on Sunday. Overall, that brings Brown County to 214 total cases with 75 cases currently active and isolating at home.

The Scott County Health Department reported 29 new cases from yesterday and over the weekend. It brings Scott County’s overall COVID-19 case count to 195, with 41 cases currently active and one of those cases currently hospitalized. Scott County currently has 104 people on quarantine after close contact with a positive case.

The Schuyler County Health Department reported 23 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday, bringing their total to 165 cases. 45 of those cases are currently active and isolating at home.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 11,632 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 throughout the state along with 37 additional deaths. The rolling 7-day statewide positivity rate is currently 12.5%.
