Residents in Chapin are getting a request from the village to properly dispose of medical waste.
Multiple media outlets have reported that the medical waste, including used hypodermic needles and empty medication vials, have been found in the Chapin sewer system.
The letter sent out to residents indicates disposing of medical waste in this matter is prohibited by state law, could injure village employees, and could damage the sewer system.
Residents can purchase safe disposal containers at their local drug store.
