Salvation Army Holiday Events Need Your Help

By Jeremy Coumbes on November 1, 2019 at 2:03pm

The Jacksonville Chapter of the Salvation Army is asking for the community’s help with upcoming holiday events.

Christmas Applications are being accepted for both Christmas Food Baskets as well as for the Angel Tree program.

Applications will be accepted Tuesday Nov. 5, Thursday Nov. 7, and Friday Nov. 8. Applicants are asked to bring identification, proof of income, proof of address, and proof of birthdates for each person in the household. The hours are 9:30 am to 3:30 pm at the Salvation Army Citadel, located at 331 W. Douglas Ave. in Jacksonville.

The Salvation Army is in need of kettle bell ringers to help fill almost 1100 hours between Monday November 11, and December 24, 2019 (excluding Sundays).

A little over 300 hours have already been reserved. The Salvation Army is trying out a new program for volunteers to sign up to ring. Anyone having an e-mail address and wishing to volunteer can sign up online at RegisterToRing.com

Volunteers can easily sign up and see what shifts are available and reserve single or group shifts by time and date. Users are also able to specify which Jacksonville location they wish to ring at. If you do not have an e-mail address, you can call the Jacksonville office at (217) 245-7124 to get assistance to sign up.

Both the Community Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinners will be held again this year.

The Thanksgiving dinner will be held on Friday November 22nd at noon, and the Christmas dinner will be at noon on Friday December 20th.

Donations toward the meals are always welcomed and needed. For details on how to donate to or assist with one of the meals, call the office at (217) 245-7124
