The State of Illinois is launching a new campaign to promote healthy ways to celebrate the holidays this year.

The “Healthy Holidays to You” campaign comes as a second wave of COVID-19 is hitting the State of Illinois with a vengeance. Governor J.B. Pritzker said during the launch last Thursday that the campaign offers advice for the coming holiday weeks: “We want to show people some of the best ways to reduce risk as determined by epidemiologists, researchers, and modelers. At the end of the day, traditions are so important to all of us, but this year we need to celebrate a little bit differently. This new campaign Healthy Holidays to You highlights what doctors and scientists consider methods to reduce your risk of contracting or spreading the virus: keeping gatherings small and virtual, maintaining six feet of distance from others, and wearing a mask whether you’re indoors or out.”

The broadcast and social media campaign features quips such as decking the halls with sanitizer, masking before you mistletoe, and if you are going to jingle, jingle six feet apart.

Other recommendations include dropping off holiday goodies at the door instead of entering someone’s home and shopping online whenever possible
