Jacksonville Police are likely to make an arrest some time today after a vehicle theft resulted in a car hitting a house and a garage yesterday morning.

Jacksonville Police received a call at 7:53 yesterday morning to the first block of Westfair Drive. The caller reported that their silver 2005 Nissan Maxima had been stolen from their residence.

According to police reports, at 9:50AM a Jacksonville Police officer was out responding to another call near the intersection of Independence and Doolin Avenues when they spotted the stolen vehicle in the area. According to Police Lieutenant Sean Walker, the officer attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle but the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. Walker says that is when the driver, a 14 year old male juvenile, lost control of the vehicle and struck a house on Independence before crossing Doolin Avenue and striking a free standing garage which disabled the vehicle.

Walker says that the driver was released to parents or guardians to receive treatment for superficial injuries at Passavant Area Hospital. Walker says that parents are remaining cooperative in the case and the juvenile will likely be arrested today for the incident.
