Prosecutors say an 18-year-old Jacksonville woman’s attempted murder case has been continued to allow for a mental evaluation.
The teen was arrested shortly after a newborn baby was found abandoned in a dumpster on West Lafayette Avenue in August 2014. In her latest court appearance on Thursday, Morgan County Assistant State’s Attorney Chad Turner says the defense asked for a mental evaluation for the mother.
Turner says the evaluation has been delayed because of scheduling conflicts.
A pre-trial date in the attempted murder case has been set for June.
