A Pike County teen was injured in an evening crash just outside of Baylis yesterday. A 16 year old male juvenile was traveling southbound in a 2003 Ford SUV on Pike County Highway 2 a half mile south of Baylis at about 5PM yesterday and lost control before skidding off the highway to the right, striking numerous trees before coming to a rest down an embankment, according to an Illinois State Police crash report.
The teen was transported to Illini Hospital with minor injuries. He was wearing his safety belt. Responding agencies were the Pike County Ambulance Service and Baylis Fire & Rescue. The juvenile was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
