Local flower shops say despite the fact Valentine’s Day fell on a Sunday and there was snow, there was still plenty of business yesterday.

All Occasions Flowers and Gifts owner Jo Ann Chumley says there were several walk-ins yesterday and 40 deliveries made. Chumley, who says this was the 20th Valentine’s Day for her business, says “Valentine’s Week” began last Tuesday, and continues today.

Reporter: “Does it make a difference when it falls on a weekend, or specifically on a Sunday like that?”

“It does, a little bit, but not much because everybody has a valentine out there,” says Chumley.

“Roses, the main sellers as per usual?”

“Yes, they are. Many colors, but mostly the red is the most popular one,” Chumley adds.

According to the Retail Advertising and Marketing Association, about 198-hundred-million roses are produced for Valentine’s Day.
