A Virginia, Illinois man was arrested in Jacksonville for a string of burglaries in Macomb and rural McDonough County yesterday afternoon. McDonough County Sheriff Nick Petitgout says that officers from the Jacksonville Police Department, detectives from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department, Macomb Police, and the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office located 33 year old Glenn R. Cline, Jr. of Virginia and Calley Merriman at the CVS Pharmacy on Main and Morton Avenue yesterday at 12:30PM.
Cline and Merriman were in possession of a stolen enclosed trailer from Adams County. During a probable cause search of the vehicle, detectives located stolen property from a storage shed in rural McDonough County. The property was identified by the victim and Glenn Cline was taken into custody. Cline and Merriman were transported to the Jacksonville Police Department. Merriman was later released. It was suspected that Cline burglarized several storage sheds in Macomb and rural McDonough County on the morning of May 14th. More charges are pending in the cases.
Cline was charged with four counts of Burglary and one count of Theft Over $500. Petitgout says that all the law enforcement offices assisted in the investigation and apprehension of Cline in the case. Cline is being held in the McDonough County Jail in lieu of bond.
