If walking is your preferred form of exercise, you won’t have to worry about winter weather holding you back.
Thanks to the cooperative work of Passavant Area Hospital, First Christian Church and Jacksonville School District 117, another year of Walking for Wellness is returning to the JHS Bowl starting Monday.
The Bowl will be open for walkers from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. as long as school is in session. On school holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas break, or on any day school is out of session, access to The Bowl will not be available.
Walking is limited to the concourse area around the top of The Bowl and jogging is not permitted.
Walking for Wellness is offered year round at First Christian Church, located at 2106 South Main. For the current fall and winter sessions, however, First Christian offers walking hours from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Walkers choosing to utilize First Christian’s facility are asked to use the church’s south entrance.
Participants are not required to register, though they should sign in each day they walk.
