A portion of West College Avenue will be closed to traffic next week for sewer repair.
A small section in the middle of the roadway collapsed in the 300 block of West College Avenue last week and has been marked off by barricades and caution cones.
Municipal Utility Superintendent of Operations for the City of Jacksonville, Rick Hearin says a pipe separated in a sewer lateral line caused the area under the street to collapse.
West College Avenue will be closed from Dunlap Court to South West Street beginning at 7:30AM Monday, May 18th and will stay closed until approximately 5PM Wednesday, May 20th.
Hearin says there is no danger of further collapse of the pavement and the street is safe to travel on for the time being.
