According to a press release today, Morgan County and Hoffman Estates in the collar counties has both had confirmed batches of mosquitoes test positive for the virus.
Morgan County’s was confirmed yesterday. It comes almost a month after the virus was first reported in a bird in Douglas County.
IDPH says people should fight the bite by reducing exposure, repelling mosquitoes with light-colored long-sleeved shirts and pants and use insect repellent containing DEET, and report local standing water and dead birds.
