An area woman is sentenced to time in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to a theft charge Monday.
In a press release, Greene County State’s Attorney Craig Grummel announced that 38 year old Kayla Justice, no hometown listed, pleaded guilty Monday to a charge of Class 2 Felony Theft.
As a result, Justice was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by Judge Zachary Schmidt.
Justice was alleged to have stolen an SUV in Greene County in May of 2025.
Grummel said Justice’s sentence reflects the seriousness of property crimes in the community and sends a clear message that this type of conduct will not be tolerated.
Grummel’s office also expressed appreciation to the Roodhouse Police Department their work and diligence in investigating this case.
