A Winchester High School graduate and retired investigative journalist is writing a second book about the investigation surrounding former Illinois House speaker Michael Madigan.
Madigan was sentenced to prison for taking bribes three years ago.
Chicago Tribune’s Ray Long wrote a best seller..”The House That Madigan Built” about the court case surrounding the conviction.
Long says he somewhere between halfway, and two thirds through a second book about the investigation.
He says this book will focus on the investigation that led to the indictments of Madigan and others.
Long says there is no publication date yet.
Long will be honored April 18th as Illinoisan of the year by the Illinois News Broadcasters Association.
The Winchester High School graduate says he was humbled when he heard about the award, and thinks it’s more special because it comes from his peers.
Long says he was shocked at the news that CBS Radio News was shutting out May 22nd. He says it’s the sign of the times that bigger is better, and monopolies threaten objectivity.
