The Jacksonville city clerk’s office says Ameren has announced a summer electricity supply rate lower than what some in Jacksonville signed onto through the city’s electrical aggregation program.

The rate through Ameren is a little more than 11-cents per kilowatt hours, lower than the city’s Homefield Energy rate of just over 13-cents.

City clerk Angela Salyer says the Ameren rate runs through October of this year, while the Homefield Energy rate runs through May of next year.

Salyer says Ameren will announce its non summer rate for October through May of next year, later this year.

Ameren is also anticipated to implement an additional rate adjustment effective January 1st, which it has done at the beginning of each year for several years.

Salyer says while the Ameren rate is cheaper through summer, she says city residents may save more in the long run by staying with Homefield Energy.

She says residents can opt out of the city aggregation program at any time.
